Trade Regrets: Ray Auld

We at Canadian Music Trade are very saddened to report the passing of Ray Auld, a much-loved and respected independent Canadian audio and MI sales rep. Throughout his career, Ray worked with Sennheiser Canada, Electro-Voice, Efkay Music Instruments, and others.

Ray’s wife, Silvana Auld, shared on Facebook on Aug. 17th: “To all of Ray's friends on Facebook and those of you who worked with him, thank you for loving him the way I have for 47 years. He truly was a shining star in so many ways ... He was kind to everyone and never had a negative thing to say. He was my soulmate and friend. I will miss him dearly but find comfort in knowing that he is not in pain anymore. Thank you once again for caring. Our lives will be forever changed without him.”

“I knew and worked with Ray for over 25 years with Sennheiser. He was an independent rep but knew the industry so well. Everyone, and I mean everyone, loved him and respected him. He knew what he was selling and was always there to help with pre-sale and after-sale,” says Nick Mandilaras, key accounts manager at Sennheiser Canada. “I learned a lot from Ray about the music industry. He will be missed by the whole industry.”

"When Ray Auld entered a room, you would be immediately engulfed in his smile and his positive demeanor," says Mark Hebert, the president and CEO of MI super store Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill, ON. "A quick joke or funny comment would always follow and everyone would be immediately entranced by his unique character. Ray's commitment to the industry, knowledge, and care of the products he represented was always a joy to witness and the crazy experiences I had when travelling with him were always the most memorable parts of any out-of-country journey. Ray's iconic personality will be sorely missed as we continue to fight for the success and vibrancy of our industry on his behalf."

We at Canadian Music Trade send our deepest condolences to Ray’s family, colleagues, and many friends.
